Following the fall of the Iron Curtain, Jewish tourists begin to flock back to see the historical sites and beautiful Jewish architecture in the Eastern Bloc. The famed “Alt-neu Shul” (The Old New Synagogue) in Prague, the synagogue of the famed Rabbi Judah Lowe, is a place of constant activity during tourist season. Chabad responds by opening a tefillin booth in front of the synagogue.
